    Third World Women

    Health Issues

What health issues are important for Third World women?

Women in Third World countries suffer from a variety of health issues. Some issues such as HIV/AIDS are similar to those dealt with in many other countries. Other issues such as gender apartheid are seen as primarily affecting Third World women.

For each health issue, the links below offer a description of the health issue, and an analysis of how it especially affects Third World women.

    The issues:

    HIV/AIDS

    Female Genital Mutilation

    Sex Trafficking

    Gender Apartheid

Of course, these are not all the health issues that affect women in the Third World. These are just a selection of the health issues that could be covered. Other pages could cover: reproductive health, environmental health, nutrition, son preference, and honor killings.
